Detailed Information

Main uses:

Food Additive: Potassium Bicarbonate is primarily used in the food industry as an acidity regulator, leavening agent, and processing aid. As a leavening agent, it can be applied in baking products such as cake mixes, with a recommended addition level of 0.1% to 1.0%. When used as an acidity regulator and processing aid in various foods, its addition should comply with good manufacturing practices. Potassium Bicarbonate has been GRAS-certified by the U.S. FDA, which has no objections to its use. It also adheres to the relevant provisions of China's GB 2760 "National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives." In brewing processes, Potassium Bicarbonate can be utilized for the conversion of tartrate salts and acidity regulation.

Feed Additive: Potassium bisulfate is an ideal source for supplementing potassium and sulfur. Potassium is a key electrolyte essential for maintaining osmotic pressure balance, neuromuscular excitability, and acid-base equilibrium in animals. Sulfur is involved in the synthesis of sulfur-containing amino acids (methionine and cystine), promoting the growth of poultry feathers and fur. Adding potassium bisulfate to feed effectively replenishes potassium and sulfur, improving the dietary electrolyte balance (dEB), making it particularly suitable for livestock such as broilers, layers, and pigs.

Industrial Applications: Used as an analytical reagent and preservative, serving as a flux in the analysis of minerals and silicate compounds. It also functions as an acid catalyst and dehydrating agent in organic synthesis, as well as an intermediate in the electrolytic preparation of potassium persulfate.

Physical and Chemical Properties:

White crystalline powder or flake-like, granular crystals, odorless, readily deliquescent. Highly soluble in water (the aqueous solution is strongly acidic), insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone.

· Melting point: 195–214°C (varies slightly depending on the measurement method; loses water and converts to pyrosulfate of potassium at high temperatures)

Density: 2.24–2.32 g/cm³ (25°C)

· pH: approximately 1 (50 g/L aqueous solution, 20°C)

· Solubility in water: 36.2 g/100 mL (0°C), 48.6 g/100 mL (20°C), 122 g/100 mL (100°C)

Packing Specification:

25 kg per bag, customizable according to customer requirements.

Storage conditions:

Sealed and lightproof, store in a cool, dry, and ventilated place, away from ignition sources and heat sources. This product is hygroscopic and prone to deliquescence; ensure the container remains tightly sealed to prevent moisture exposure. Store separately from strong alkalis, oxidizing agents, and other reactive substances. Recommended storage temperature: 5–30°C. Handle as a corrosive material during transportation (UN No. 2509, Hazard Class 8, Packing Group II).

Note:

Potassium bisulfate has multiple alternative names, including potassium acid sulfate and potassium hydrogen sulfate. Our company can provide products of various specifications such as food-grade, feed-grade, and industrial-grade based on customer requirements. For analysis certificates (COA), safety data sheets (SDS), or technical data sheets (TDS) of specific products, please contact our sales team.
